Spring Training Report March 23rd

We get to check in once again with our Cardinals correspondent down at spring training, B.J. Rains with the Globe Democrat. We look into the Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday injuries, and which player sat out Monday's game. We continue to follow the latest developments in the rotation, along with all the movement in the yet-to-be determined 5th slot.

Blues Running Out of Time

The Blues are 6-4 in their last 10 games, and were mildly successful over the weekend going 2-1. But most Blues' fans would focus on the late blown 2-1 lead against Nashville Sunday that led to a 3-2 loss. Couple that with the Red Wings playing some of their best hockey of the season, the Blues are losing ground fast. Our Up Late hockey analyst Chris Gift from St. Louis Gametime joined us this morning to break down where exactly the Blues stand right now, and where they go from here.

An End to the Tourney as We Know It

It's been a beautiful thing watching this year's NCAA tournament play out the way it has. The upsets, the buzzer beaters, the players. We may call this the greatest NCAA tournament of all time before it's all said and done. But I'm there's one thing we will almost certainly be saying, "It's the last NCAA tournament as we know and love it." The expansion may come as a surprise to some, but in reality the signs pointing towards expansion have been right under our noses.

AL Central Preview

We are starting to head down to the nitty-gritty with just two division previews left. Once again Kevin Goldstein from Baseball Prospectus was kind enough to help us preview the American League Central division. Among the items we get into: the Twins new ballpark, the emergence of Justin Verlander, how good Cleveland's young talent really is, and whether or not KC will ever, truly break through.

Rams Look....Don't Touch

The Rams have stood idly by while two teams inside their own division address the quarterback position. Maybe this reinforces the Rams perceived stance on drafting Sam Bradford. Or maybe it shows the Rams inability to think outside of the box, when it comes to addressing the holes currently on this roster. We discussed these problems Up Late w/ The Benchwarmers.

NFL Draft Talk March 17th

Our Tuesday into Wednesday tradition continued today looking at the NFL Draft in the 3am hour. In this segment we talk about the future of Adam Carriker among other things. I personally think another Rams reach of the Scott Linehan era is about to meet his untimely doom in the organization. Here's some of the that conversation.

Head 2 Head March 17th

Alright we're back. After a week of technical problems, we are back online. Tonight's edition of H2H features a lot of tournament talk. We'll examine the fate of the Missouri Tigers, which games have the best chance of popping an upset, and which teams may sneak into the final four.

NL West Preview

Kevin Goldstein from Baseball Prospectus joined us again on the program, to preview the NL West for 2010. We look at the Dodgers and see if their blend of young and old talent will once again yield positive results. How close is Manny Ramirez to falling off from his heavy production? How great is the Rockies young talent? And is it all about Tim Lincecum in San Francisco? Find out in this detailed look out west.

Cardinals Spring Training Report March 5th

The Cardinals actually played a game on Thursday afternoon, although maybe some wish they would've waited one more day after getting hammered by the Mets 17-11. Ryan Ludwick did homer and some of the younger Cardinal position player prospects got to show their stuff. We talk about where the Cards are at right now with Globe Democrat Cardinals reporter B.J. Rains.

Blues Rolld 6-1 in Big D

The St. Louis Blues may be starting to feel it, drilling the Dallas Stars on Thursday, 6-1. The Note will wake up on Friday, just a a single point behind the Detroit Red Wings for the 8th and final playoff spot. We examine the run the Blues are on, and what teams will cause a challenge for the final spot with Chris Gift from St. Louis Gametime.

Head 2 Head March 4th Part 2

In part 2 of our Head 2 Head segment today, we talk some NCAA Hoops. Maryland got a huge win on Wednesday over Duke at home. Does the victory put the Terps as one of the "it" teams for the dance. And speaking of Duke, are they the front-runners for that final #1 seed out West. And where does the Big 12 or Big 10 come in for the final #1 perch.

Head 2 Head March 4th Part 1

Every morning Up Late w/ The Benchwarmers, we go head-2-head on a number of pressing sports topics of the day. In part 1 of our discussions, we talked about what areas the Rams DON'T need to address this off-season. We look at the odds Anquan Boldin is moved by the Cardinals, and whether Alex Barron is in Rams uniform at the start of the 2010 season.

Draft Talk March 3rd

Tuesday night's draft discussion UP Late w/ The Benchwarmers centered on how the team may progress with the first overall pick. We look at some of possibilities if Sam Bradford ends up getting that call.

Blues Win 4th Straight

The Blues came out of the post-Olympic break gate fast and furious Tuesday night, blitzing the Phoenix Coyotes 5-2 on the road. The win came hours before the trade deadline, as the Blues could be buyers or sellers. Our hockey analyst Up Late w/ The Benchwarmers, Chris Gift, from St. Louis Gamtime broke down the Blues win, and looked ahead to what the trade deadline could mean.

Spring Training Report 3/2

We get another in-depth look at Cardinals camp from Globe Democrat reporter B.J. Rains from Jupiter, FL. We look at how Felipe Lopez's acquisition makes the Cardinals a much deeper team on their bench, and in their every day line-up. We take a look at the Cardinals starting middle infielders, and how the rotation is likely to shake out once the regular season arrives.

H2H

Earlier this morning Up Late w/ The Benchwarmers, we went Head-2-Head on a number of different topics. We touched on whether or not the dramatics of the Olympic hockey tournament would cause a ratings spike in the states. We looked at the tenuous situation the Fighting Illini now find themselves after a bad loss over the weekend at home to Minnesota. And finally we look at how the Cleveland Cavs will be hurt by the loss of the Shaqtus.

Combine Changes Nothing

40-times were posted. Measurements were taken. But nothing really changed for the St. Loius Rams. If they're hellbent on taking a QB, Sam Bradford would be their guy. If the Rams are out for the best player, look no further than one of two D-tackles, more than likely located atop every draft board in the NFL.
